Martha Murphy Obituary

Martha Lee Murphy was born February 26th, 1949 to the union of George and Martha Beamon in Vicksburg, MS.

Martha moved to Kansas City, KS in 1967 where she met the love of her life, Willard Murphy Jr. They later marred in 1970 and to this union were 2 children.

Martha accepted Christ at a young age. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church until her health began to fail. There she was a member of the Mother Board, Usher Board, and choir. One of her favorite events put on by the Usher Board was the annual Tea Slip and Fashion Show. She LOVED getting dressed up in her suits and hats! She might have even tricked you into modeling. Martha enjoyed family time, playing cards, and listening to her records.

Martha worked as a homemaker for many years. She built lifelong friendships and relationships. The Katz, Karbanks, Novorr and Cohn families were a few of many.

Martha departed peacefully on March 2nd, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two children, daughter Mary Beamon, and son Marlin Murphy (Shawna); one sister, Josephine Foster (Reuben) of Converse, TX; one brother, Walter Beamon (Alice) of Vicksburg, MS; sister-in-law, Brenda Beamon of Vicksburg, MS; grandchildren, Shavon Beamon, Jaivon Beamon, Marcus Jennings, Aubreion Beamon, Deondre Beamon, Divanti Whitlow, Devonna Garret, Marlina Murphy, SaiVone Love, Shakair Love, QuilMara Murphy, Nevaeh and DJ; eight great-grandchildren; God children, Terence (Tina) Wilson, Bonita England; sisters in love, Jackie, Rosie, and Pat; daughter in love, Allyson Love; Sam (Pam) Smart; long time neighbors, and a host of family members and friends.
