Jourdyn Cha'Quyl Everette Obituary (1994

Jourdyn Cha'Quyl Everette, commonly known as "Jordy, or JC", was born at University of Kansas Hospital on May 26, 1994, to Jeannine Y. Smith and James E. Everette Jr. Jourdyn accepted Christ at a young age under Evangelic Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Peppermint Nursery and Kiddi Kollege in Kansas City, KS, Clyde Huyck Elementary School and Piper Elementary School, Piper Middle School, and Piper High School, and graduated from Washington High School in May of 2012, at the age of 17. Upon graduation, JC went to Independence Community College, in Independence, KS, and then went to Kansas City Kansas Community College to earn his EMT degree, however he was too young to become a fireman, and while waiting to join the program he earned a job as a truck driver for the United Parcel System. He also started a lawn service. JC started playing sports at an early age. He was an all-around athlete, with a competitive spirit who loved playing basketball, baseball, and football. Jourdyn was charismatic and charming with an old soul. He had a smile that would light a room when he entered, with a joke, making everyone laugh. He would give these big bear hugs, filled with the most amazing comfort. He was an amazing family man and excellent father. His grandmother, Annette Smith (granny, is what he called her), was his everything. They were so close. When he bought his lawnmower, she picked up the phone and told Jason Arbee, "I don't need you to cut my grass anymore because my grandson got this." We laughed so hard. Family meant everything to Jourdyn. Whenever the family needed something done, we called him. His sister, brother, and cousins knew him best. He was the baby of them all. They would send him to ask for anything on their behalf because they knew JC would get whatever he wanted from MOMMIE. He LOVED his mother. He would wait for her at a young age, at the top of his grandmothers' stairs, waiting for her to get home from working long hours to provide for him and his sister. He would call his mom early in the morning to make sure she got to work safely or to call her to make sure she made it home safe. His loved his mom's cooking so much he would have her season or call her for every little detail on how to cook something. Jourdyn "JC" departed this earthly life July 13, 2022. He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandmother, Catherine Dotson and Maternal Grandfather, Gene Smith, Brother, James E. Everette III, Special Maternal Uncle, Earnest Winfrey, Cousin De'Angelo Bradley, Maternal Great-Grandmother, Annie (Banks) Winfrey, and Grandfather, Ezel Winfrey Sr. Jourdyn "JC" leaves to cherish his memories: Two Beautiful Daughters, Alexandria "AJ" Everette, and Anisa "NiNi" Everette of Kansas City, KS; His Parents, James E. Everette Jr. and Jeannine Y. Smith, of Kansas City, KS; A Grandmother, Annette Smith; His Siblings: Sister, Jazmyne N.
